Who were the big winners at the 2012 American Music Awards?

Who won big at Sunday night's American Music Awards? Here's a hint: There were no shockers this year.

Carly Rae Jepsen AMAs

If you could use two words to describe the winners at the 2012 American Music Awards, they would be: “no surprises.” There really were no big shockers at this year’s show.

Justin Bieber is one of the biggest artists in the country right now, so no one blinked when he was nominated for three awards: Favorite Rock/Pop Album, Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist, and Artist of the Year. And, no surprise, he won all three. Bieber seemed speechless when he got up to accept the third award, and thanked his mother and “everyone.”

“It’s hard growing up, with everything going on and everyone watching you,” he said during his acceptance speech, alluding to his current personal life. “But as long as you still believe in me, I will always make you proud. I love you.”

Bieber was up against Maroon 5, Drake, Katy Perry and Rihanna for the biggest award of the night.

Taylor Swift has the No. 1 album in the country right now, but was only up for one award. This is because her album wasn’t released in the year necessary for the awards, but she is eligible for Favorite Female Country Artist, which was her one nomination. She won that one over Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert.

However, Carrie Underwood took home Favorite Country Album for Blown Away. During her acceptance, the American Music Awards announcer said the win means she has won the award for every album she has put out.

The other winners who were either expected to win, or at least surprised no one, were Katy Perry for Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist; Maroon 5 for Favorite Pop/Rock Band, Duo or Group; Luke Bryan for Favorite Country Music Male Artist; Lady Antebellum for Favorite Country Music Band, Duo or Group; Nicki Minaj for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist and Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album, Usher and Beyonce as the favorite Soul/R&B Artists and Rihanna for Favorite Soul/R&B Album.

Carly Rae Jepsen was up against stiff competition for New Artist of the Year. J. Cole, fun., Gotye and One Direction were all up against the “Call Me Maybe” singer for the award. Because of the competition, that one could perhaps be called the biggest surprise of the night .

Sneak peek: Blake Shelton's Not-So-Family Christmas

It doesn't get much more country than Blake Shelton these days. While everyone else is adding a little pop to their country, Blake's adding a little country to his Christmas.

Blake Shelton's not-so-family christmas

There can never be too many Christmas specials! Between the nearly regular Michael Buble special, the various Charlie Brown favorites, and the annual Christmas at Rockefeller Center, our televisions are swamped with good tidings and cheer. This year we've got yet another guy helping to make our season merry and bright! Blake Shelton has made a very special Christmas special of his own. Behold: Blake Shelton's Not-So-Family Christmas.

Blake Shelton's not-so-family christmas

It's called the "Not-So-Family Christmas" because he's invited all sorts of familiar faces. His friends, Reba McEntire, Christina Aguilera and Kelly Clarkson will join in the festivities. As for family, Shelton's beautiful and talented wife, Miranda Lambert, will join him on stage for at least one song.

Blake also recently announced that the other leading lady in his life, his mom, would sing a tune with him, too! It's possible she brings out even more of his accent! From the sound of it, she's written a song especially for them to sing together. Now we know where he gets his talent.

If you just can't get enough of Blake, we understand and so does NBC. He'll also make an appearance on Michael Buble's holiday special, Home for the Holidays! Plus, don't forget there's still a couple more episodes left in this season's The Voice.

Finally, even though CeeLo & Christina will be absent from the new season of The Voice , Blake Shelton will still be on the show, along with Usher & Shakira. We recommend not missing the Christmas special. But, if you do, you can still get your Blake Shelton fix by tuning into one of the other many shows!

Finally, if you want to hear less talking and more singing from Shelton, check out his new Christmas album, Cheers, It's Christmas. The album features a duet with his wife for "Jingle Bell Rock," as well as a studio version of his mother's duet, "Time for Me to Come Home." Get ready to fa-la-la your heart out!

Best-dressed of ACA years past

The American Country Awards is set for Dec. 10, and we're sure the stars are shining up their country best to walk the red carpet.

Let's get ready for the show by remembering some of the best-dressed stars from years past. Surprise, surprise: Carrie Underwood is on the list!

Jordin Sparks

Former American Idol winner Jordin Sparks is pretty much the most adorable girl in the world. Case in point? Check her out at the 2010 American Country Awards. Jason Derulo is one lucky dude.

American Country Awards Best Dresed Jordin Sparks

Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood typically has several outfit changes during awards shows and the 2011 American Country Awards was no exception. We particularly loved the Maria Lucia Hohan party dress she rocked on the red carpet. It's just fun and flirty — and totally Carrie.

Hillary Scott

Lady Antebellum singer Hillary Scott is hit or miss when it comes to her awards show looks, but her 2011 American Country Awards look is definitely a tic in the best-dressed column.

Kristin Chenoweth

How adorable is Kristin Chenoweth at the 2011 American Country Awards? Adorable enough to forgive her for dating that d-bag Jake Pavelka, that's how much. Will she top the look when she hosts the show for a second time? Let's hope.

Miranda Lambert

Miranda Lambert is another country lady who is hit or mess when it comes to her awards show choices. Luckily, Lambert — here with her Pistol Annies cohorts — looks amazing in this form-fitting dress.

Who do you think will win best-dressed at the 2012 American Country Awards?

Miranda Lambert: Worst-dressed celebrities at the 2012 ACAs

For all those who shined on the American Country Awards red carpet, there were a few that missed the mark.

For a country music award show, the fashion is a little different. This gives the performers and attendees a chance to branch out, but that branch can become a double-edged sword. For the worst-dressed at the 2012 American Country Awards, our choices all look like they wanted to try something a little different.

1

Payton Rae

Payton Rae

In this case, maybe Payton Rae should have attempted to stay with her country roots, because this attempt to branch out went in the wrong direction. The dress, along with her long blond hair, resembles what Barbie might wear… in the clearance section. The sheer tulle skirt is not helping, and are those feathers?

2

Carmen Electra

Carmen Electra

While the dress is a valiant attempt at classiness, Carmen Electra was way off target. Her white gown looked half like she was attempting the goddess look, and half like she was dressed in her curtains. Not to mention the white straps going in all directions across her body. If Electra is attempting to become some sort of style icon with this daring outfit, she was wrong.

3

Miranda Lambert

Miranda Lambert

We love Miranda Lambert; we really do. The singer is at the height of her career, and is even married to singer Blake Shelton. But she has made some odd fashion choices this year. After the debacle with her dress at the Country Music Awards, you'd think she would have sat down and thought long and hard about her choices at the ACAs. While she did go in a different direction, it was just as bad. The short dress covered about every other part of her, besides her legs, from the long sleeves to the turtle neck. And lets face it, it was just too tight. Lambert has an amazing body, but the size of the dress was too distracting to show what she really has.

4

Jason Aldean

Jason Aldean

Jason Aldean is a great example of someone trying to try something new, but for him, he probably should have stuck to what he's used to. There were a lot of guys on the red carpet making interesting choices, but because the rest of them could be chalked up to just being "too country," Aldean hit the top of our worst-dressed list. We could forgive the too-tight jeans. We could maybe even forgive the chain attached to those jeans. But the jacket he chose was beyond forgiveness. That jacket, made of what appears to be pleather laid in a criss-cross pattern, was shapeless and made no sense with the rest of the outfit or the event. The sad part is he probably wouldn't have made the list without that jacket, but it left us confused.

Jewel sings greatest hits with some (famous) fans

The singer chatted with SheKnows at the American Country Awards and shared some info on her soon-to-be-released greatest hits album.

It may be hard to believe, but singer Jewel released her debut album Pieces of You almost 18 years ago. After 10 albums, the singer announced Monday she will be releasing a greatest hits album in 2013, and some famous friends will be joining her.

The new album will include 17 tracks and she will be re-doing some of her biggest hits.

"I just wanted to do some duets with some artists I really liked and some voices I like," Jewel told Billboard. "Kelly [Clarkson] was amazing. She was a hoot to have in the studio. She had done 'Foolish Games' in several talent shows prior to American Idol, so she really knew it. I'm such a fan of her voice and love what she added to the song. She was so effortless on it. It's neat to hear it in her new light."

Besides Clarkson, Jewel also invited the Pistol Annies to collaborate on another of her famous tracks, "You Were Meant for Me".

"With Pistol Annies, I love them," she said. "I think they're cool, and I was really excited Miranda and the girls wanted to be on it. We had a lot of fun."

The songs will also be featured on the album in their original versions, but she wanted listeners to hear the new versions as well. Jewel spoke with SheKnows about collaborating with the different singers.

"I love those girls, they are all so fun to be around and hang out with," she said on the red carpet of the American Country Awards. "It was flattering, too, they grew up listening to my music.”

The singer said when she started, she never thought she’d be where she is today.

"I think it's neat," she told Billboard. "I got signed when I was 17, and I never thought my career would go as far as it did. I really idolized John Prine, Tom Waits, that sort of . I hoped that would be my lot — I'd get to have a fan base and make records and tour. I never dreamed it would get to the highs it had. And when it did I was quite concerned about longevity, and I've always tried to make decisions that hopefully would create a good, strong fan base that was really loyal. And that's what's happened, so I feel really blessed."

The album will also include some new tracks as well as the collaborations and hits. It will be out Feb. 5, 2013.

Friday's Fashion Fails: Anne Hathaway and Miranda Lambert

$

Oops... even celebrities get it wrong sometimes! We're telling you why Anne Hathaway and Miranda Lambert's fashions fell short in our weekly feature. Learn from the stars' sartorial slip ups!

Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway

Is Anne Hathaway a Method actress? She played a prostitute in Les Miserables, and by the looks of her streetwalker-ready bondage-inspired shoes, she's still in character in this Tom Ford ensemble she chose for the NY premiere of Les Mis.

We're so confused by Anne's look, since she normally has such classic and sophisticated style. The actress is wearing head to toe Tom Ford, including this black gothic caped dress from his spring 2013 collection with a thigh high slit. Not everyone is Gwyneth Paltrow and can pull of a Tom Ford cape, Anne. Gwyn's look worked because it was sleek and chic, while your billowing black cape is reminding us of a trash bag.

And then there are those S&M shoes, which were also custom designed by Tom Ford for her in vegan leather for animal lover Anne. Save those for your Fifty Shades of Grey audition, please.

The final verdict? You know how they say remove one item before leaving the house? Anne must have chosen her undies that night, because she suffered a wardrobe malfunction while exiting her car in this tight dress. You don't have to put on the red light, but you do have to put on panties when paps are present!

Miranda Lambert

Miranda Lambert

Was Miranda Lambert dressing up for Halloween or the American Country Awards? The sequined piping on her minidress reminds us of spider webs. We also think the country crooner was torn between going classy and tacky in this getup.

The turtleneck and long sleeves on her black and silver dress say business, while the super short hemline says Viva Las Vegas, where the awards went down. But the whole look screams "I need a stylist who knows how to dress my body type" to us.

The horizontal sequin stripes make her petite frame look shorter and wider, and the half-bun hairdo seems dated. Instead of showing off her great cleavage, Miranda kept that all covered up and bared too much leg instead with this super short outfit.

The final verdict? When in doubt, stick to a fashion formula that works for your figure. And remember, turtleneck dresses have no place in Las Vegas!

Country music star Miranda Lambert spills her relationship secrets, biggest marriage tip and how she is spending the holidays with Blake!

Whether she’s performing on tour, accepting an award or hanging out with her hubby, Miranda Lambert is one of the cutest, most hard-working stars in the music biz — and she dishes on how she manages her hectic work schedule while maintaining a relationship — exclusively with us!

SheKnows: Congrats again to both you and Blake for your wins at the Country Music Awards. How did you celebrate together?

Miranda Lambert: We went to a local bar with our booking agency, and at 1:30 we were tired! Those are long days. At 11 a.m. you start rehearsals, and then glam, and then more rehearsals, followed by interviews!

SK: When you’re not working, what do you and Blake do for fun?

ML: We’re at the house, we like to cook dinner, watch a movie, go back roading or listen to music. We’re really chill. I mean, we live in the country, so there’s not much to do.

SK: We're dying to know, what’s the first piece of marriage advice that comes to your mind?

ML: Make time for each other. We don’t spend more than two weeks apart. And also, when I say “each other,” I mean just you and your partner. Because even if you’re together, but with other people, you’re not really together. What we learned in our first year, is that we were constantly surrounded by other people — living in LA when he was surrounded by The Voice or on tour with me and my people, so my biggest piece of advice is to just have “you two time.” Even if it’s just hanging out — nothing too fancy!

SK: What will you two be doing for the holidays? Any fun plans?

ML: For Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, we’re in Lindale, Texas with my family. And then for the day after Christmas, we head to Oklahoma to the in-laws’. He has a big family, so it’s usually a five day thing!

SK: Any insight on what you may get Blake this year?

ML: Well, not sure yet, but all of the dogs have stockings! And then they all fight over each other’s treats — even though they all get the same thing!

WE'RE OBSESSED!

We have a total crush on Miranda Lambert's chic 'do. Find out why in this week's installment of Celeb Hairstyle of the Week!

She might've made our Fashion Fails for the outfit she wore in this picture, but Miranda Lambert is most definitely redeeming herself with her chic updo! The country crooner rocked the darling look at this month's American Country Awards, and we think it deserves an award of its own.

Mrs. Blake Shelton paired her cute topknot with face-framing fringe and lots of shine for a look that complemented her statement-making LBD. Adorable, no?

Miranda's adorbs topknot works for the red carpet but it'd also go well with a casual ensemble, so don't be afraid to rock it on your own!

More celebs react to Beyoncé's lip-synching "scandal"

After the scandal broke that Beyoncé had pre-recorded her song for Obama's inauguration, many celebrities asked: "Who cares?"

Beyonce

The talk about the so-called scandal involving Beyoncé lip-synching the national anthem at President Obama’s second inauguration ceremony continues, but is it really a scandal? Some celebs seem to think people are making a bigger deal about it than necessary.

Jennifer Lopez is one singer who has been known to pre-record her material on numerous occasions. She was first in line to defend Beyoncé's decision.

"In certain venues and stuff, they do pre-record things, because you're going to have that terrible slapback," Lopez told Jon Stewart on the Daily Show. "All performers do have to do it at some point.”

Some performers may disagree with that statement, but Lopez was adamant.

"Sure," Stewart replied. "Slapback."

LeAnn Rimes is another singer who defended Beyoncé's decision.

"I'm actually taking up for her on this one," Rimes told Jimmy Kimmel. "There are times when people will ask you to do it, and they will not let you do it unless you do it because they want control over what happens."

Confused? Rimes was trying to explain certain venues won’t let you perform unless you do it their way. But the original confirmation by the London Times said that it was, in the end, Beyoncé's decision.

Singer Myleene Klass took to Twitter to defend Beyoncé, saying that this isn’t the same as lip-synching scandals in the past.

“I don't get what's outrageous about lip-syncing to your OWN vocals?” Klass wrote. “Not exactly Milli Vanilli.”

Steven Tyler decided to chime in on the controversy as well.

"Beyoncé's so hot she can do anything,” he said. “Let's just get real."

And fellow singer Miranda Lambert seemed to agree with Tyler. She again made the important point that she is Beyoncé and can make her own decisions on her singing.

“I don’t think it matters,” Lambert told Yahoo!. “It’s Beyoncé, she can do whatever the hell she wants!”

Lumineers, Jack White, Carrie Underwood at Grammys

The 55th Annual Grammys is coming up, and the list of world-class performers keeps on growing. See who else is set to command the stage on Feb. 10.

Carrie Underwood at the CMAs

Ho! Hey! The Lumineers will strum and stomp their way across the Grammys stage Feb. 10 when the 55th annual Grammy Awards recognizes all that was new and wonderful in music in 2012.

The Lumineers' performance caps off a huge year for the folk-rock upstarts, who released their self-titled debut album in April of 2012. Their song "Ho Hey" was used soon afterwards in commercials for Bing and Blue Moon beer, setting off a wave of Lumineers appreciation that led to The Lumineers album going gold.

The Lumineers, first-time nominees, are up for Best New Artist and Best Americana Album for The Lumineers.

Also set to play Los Angeles' Staples Center is Jack White, practically a Grammys grandpa with nine awards under his belt. White is nominated for three Grammys, including Album of the Year for Blunderbuss , Best Rock Album and Best Rock Song for "Freedom at 21."

White hasn't performed at the Grammys since 2004, when he took the stage with Meg White and performed the thumping single "Seven Nation Army."

American Idol alums get multiple Grammy nominations>>

Carrie Underwood, who performed at last year's Grammys with Tony Bennett, is nominated for Best Country Solo Performance for "Blown Away."

Dierks Bentley, who will join Miranda Lambert onstage for a special performance, is also up for Best Country Solo Performance for "Home." Lambert is nominated for Best Country Album for Four the Record, competing against Zac Brown Band and Hunter Hayes' eponymous album.

First-time nominee Ed Sheeran has the honor of performing onstage with Sir Elton John, who's not nominated for a Grammy this year, but the fella has six already, so he's probably not crying behind a pair of wacky glasses or anything.

Of course, also still performing are the previously announced Mumford & Sons, Rihanna, fun., Taylor Swift and the Black Keys.

Country stars take over the Grammys stage

The 55th Annual Grammy Awards are shaping up to be quite the southern-fried extravaganza. Country royalty from Keith Urban to Carrie Underwood will be rocking the stage, as presenters and performers. Read on for the rundown!

Miranda Lambert and Dierks Bentley

Dierks Bentley and Miranda Lambert

Two of country music's most beloved rabble-rousers, Dierks Bentley and Miranda Lambert, make beautiful music together... literally. No, Lambert isn't stepping out on her tall-drink-of-water hubby Blake Shelton! She and Bentley are collaborating on the road for their Locked & Reloaded tour. Both are up for solo awards outside of their joint performance — Bentley is nominated for Best Country Solo Performance for his patriotic hit "Home," while Lambert's Four the Record album stands to win Best Country Album. No word yet on what song the pair will be singing, but it's sure to be a rowdy affair.

Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood

How do you follow up hitting the stage with Tony Bennett? We'll soon see! Carrie Underwood shared the spotlight with the legendary singer at last year's Grammy Awards for a duet of his classic song "It Had to Be You." Of course, Underwood is no pushover herself. She's been nominated for nearly 300 awards and won in excess of 100 — five of those wins being Grammy Awards. This year, she's nominated once again — this time for the hit "Blown Away." Will Underwood perform the single, which is nominated for Best Country Solo Performance and Best Country Song? Or will she go with "Good Girl," the sassy other single from her Blown Away album?

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift

It just wouldn’t be a music awards show without Taylor Swift nominated for something. This year, she's covering multiple bases. As a solo artist, she's up for Record of the Year for the catchy little ditty "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together." For her collaboration with The Civil Wars, she earned a nod in the Best Country Duo/Group Performance for the haunting melody "Safe & Sound." And, last but certainly not least, she also bagged a nomination for her writing skills on "Safe & Sound" in the Best Song Written for Visual Media — you might remember it from a little film last year called The Hunger Games. All we can say to all that is, "Daaaaaang, girl!"

Keith Urban

Keith Urban

It's been a few weeks since the new season of American Idol started, giving us time each week to admire the cute country crooner from Down Under, Keith Urban. When the original announcement aired that he would be joining the judges' panel, we admit we had our doubts. After all, outside of singing, he's a pretty softspoken guy — he's rarely seen offering more than a quick sound bite to press. Would he be able to get a word in edgewise sandwiched between Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey? We were happy to find that not only is he delightful on the show, but he also gives good advice. We can't get enough of the Aussie import, so we're looked forward to seeing him on the Grammy stage — even if he is only presenting.

Faith Hill and Tim McGraw

Faith Hill and Tim McGraw

The long-reigning king and queen of country music, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, will be bringing all their too-adorable-for-words-googly-eyed-for-each other goodness to the Grammy stage as presenters. And, honey, they've never looked better — we don't blame them for being hot for each other. Honestly, we're kind of hot for both of them too! We've been crushing on Hill since she released her single "American Heart" in September — thanks in large part to the precious patriotic video, which depicts Faith dancing with a kid so cute we want to put him in our pocketbook and take him home. Which, coincidentally, is also what we'd like to do with Tim, who looked smokin' hot on the latest cover of People magazine.

Celebs at the 2013 Grammy Awards: What rules?

$
0
0
The red carpet at the 2013 Grammy Awards was more subdued than in other years, maybe thanks to the new rules issued by officials. Still, a few celebrities managed to buck the trend.

Katy Perry at the GrammysThe suits behind the Grammy Awards had specific instructions for all the celebs attending the 2013 show: No T&A.

"Please be sure that buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered,"read the official advisory. "Please avoid exposing bare fleshy under curves of the buttocks and buttock crack. Bare sides or under curvature of the breasts is also problematic. Please avoid sheer see-through clothing that could possibly expose female breast nipples. Please be sure the genital region is adequately covered so that there is no visible 'puffy' bare skin exposure."

Whitney Port on Grammys makeup: "Very Old Hollywood">>

And surprisingly, most celebrities followed the rules, save for a few notable exceptions.

"They didn't say anything about leg!" Jennifer Lopez told E! News as she showed off a lot of leg in her Anthony Vaccarello dress. "I thought I was being such a good girl! A little shoulder, a little leg."

Miranda Lambert also showed off the "fleshy" parts of her breasts.

"The thing they sent out to all the stylists and stuff was like, 'Don't show your side boob and puffy skin...,'" she told E! News. "It was like, 'What is that?'"

Katy Perry also took the opportunity to show off the, er, fleshier parts of her incredible body. However, Kat Von D summed it up nicely when asked about adhering to the red carpet rules.

"We don't care about guidelines," she told Giuliana Rancic.

Editor's video pick: Miranda Lambert "Mama's Broken Heart"

Miranda Lambert graces the small screen with dainty outfits and a dash of crazy in her latest music video.

Miranda LambertPlastic perfection

Miranda Lambert debuts "refined crazy" in her vivacious new video for "Mama's Broken Heart." It's a charming, upbeat portrayal of a woman's frustration, but it has its share of profound wisdom.

What is Miranda being nominated for now?>>

It delves deep into a woman's plight of hiding from everyone else when she's falling apart on the inside. It takes real work to keep it together and anyone can relate almost immediately when Miranda comically displays her aggression by stabbing the food on her plate.

It's a vibrant video bursting with darling outfits and luxurious backdrops. It can't be sheer irony that Miranda also looks a bit too pristine — almost plastic like our favorite Mattel doll. While the song touches on the importance of a woman's appearance and her demeanor, it also expresses the restrictive sentiment that was once placed on women to hide showing their feelings.

Miranda has sensational style!>>

Ms. Lambert teeters to each extreme — ranging from quietly stirring in a bathtub to cathartic physical aggression in her bedroom. Which way is right? Any! Her video is a symbol of all the different coping styles — some can let flashes of emotion out occasionally, while others need an atomic explosion to release their pain.

The tumultuous experience of recouping after a breakup is not easy, and Lambert's video is a gentle reminder that we are not alone when we go through a rough one. Somewhere, someone else feels exactly what you do — rage! Thanks to this artist's daring performance, you can know that outburst you had isn't exactly abnormal.

A humorous thought did occur to me either Miranda is a great actress, or Blake Shelton must be scared out of his mind when he makes her mad!

Blake Shelton is in some hot water of his own right now, but it isn't with his wife!>>

The Academy of Country Music Awards are just around the corner, so SheKnows is giving you a glimpse of some of the nominees through their music videos.

ACMAwardsvideoroundup

The Academy of Country Music Awards are just around the corner and it's a great time to dive in to see the music videos from some of the nominees. From Taylor Swift to country's first couple Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert, there have been some huge hits that have crossed over into other genres of music.

Taylor Swift

The 23-year-old singer has had a monster year with her best-selling album Red. When she isn't making headlines for her music, Swift is making headlines for her dating escapades. However, her tabloid love life has inspired a few mega-hits including this catchy single, "I Knew You Were Trouble." The first two minutes of the video takes the viewer on a series of flashbacks of a troubled romance. The song doesn't even begin until you hit the two-minute mark and that's when the lyrics begin to stick in your head all day long. The big question this year: Will she win Entertainer of the Year three years in a row?

Hunter Hayes

Hayes is another young country star whose has exploded onto the music scene this year. He's nominated for New Male Vocalist of the Year and his video for "Wanted" is up for Video of the Year. The 21-year-old opened for Carrie Underwood in 2012, so fans across the U.S. were able to see his talent during the tour. See what the hype is all about in his video for "Wanted."

Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert

The king and queen of country music hit it big in 2012 with the touching song, "Over You." The single was co-written by the married couple in honor of Shelton's older brother who was killed in a car accident when the singer was a teen.

When it came time to sing the song, Lambert told The Tennessean, "Blake said he couldn’t record it for himself or sing it onstage every night, but he would be honored for me to." The duo work well together on both a personal and a professional level, no wonder the song is nominated for Song of the Year.

Little Big Town

The video for their song "Tornado" starts out in complete silence with only the occasional squeak from a rocking chair or the cry of a crow. When the music begins at the one-minute mark, the viewer knows they are in for something special. The second single off of their 2012 album of the same name went gold after selling over 500,000 units. For fans of Roadhouse 2, you might notice the handsome Johnathon Schaech starring in the Video of the Year nominee.

Fashion face-off: Gorgeous gowns of ACM Awards past

Long gone are the days when glamour at the Academy of Country Music Awards meant big hair and leather fringe. Today, stylish country stars draped in Roberto Cavalli and Badgley Mischka bring the South to the forefront of fashion. But which country cuties top the ACM best dressed?

Taylor Swift vs. Miranda Lambert

Taylor Swift vs. Miranda Lambert

Taylor Swift routinely rules the red carpet these days, and the 2012 ACM Awards proved no different. In a sleek, gold and white J. Mendel gown, Taylor stole the show. Miranda Lambert worked the gold and white modern goddess look in Lorena Sarbu at the 2011 ACM Awards the year prior, pairing it with a sweet swept-back updo for an altogether timeless style.

Kimberly Schlapman vs. Allison DeMarcus

Kimberly Schlapman vs. Allison DeMarcus

Why don't more stars opt for shorter hems? Little Big Town's Kimberly Schlapman had legs for days at last year's ACMs in a sparkly off-the-shoulder cocktail dress. In 2011, Allison DeMarcus — the wife of Rascal Flatts' Jay DeMarcus — showed off her great gams in a flapper-inspired number. Both women proved that going short at awards shows can be equally as chic as donning a ground-draping gown.

Julianne Hough vs. Jennifer Nettles

While neutrals and metallics seem to pop up the most on the red carpet, Julianne Hough and Jennifer Nettles brightened up the ACMs in vibrant coral hues. Julianne chose a cheery orange-coral, floral-print gown— designed by Randi Rahm — with a daring backless halter-bib style at the 2011 ACM Awards. Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles hit the 2012 ACM Awards in a pink-coral, custom Max Azria Atelier gown embellished with a sunny yellow sequined belt.

Carrie Underwood vs. Kimberly Perry

Carrie Underwood vs. Kimberly Perry

For the 2012 ACM Awards, Carrie Underwood looked utterly ethereal in an Abed Mahfouz couture gown — which she smartly paired with metallic Oscar de la Renta heels and Johnathon Arndt jewels. In a wash of beaded mauve tulle, The Band Perry's Kimberly Perry brought romance to life in a mermaid gown by Cengiz Abazoglu.

Predictions for the 2013 Academy of Country Music Awards

The ACM Awards are sure to present a memorable evening, but what are the things that could happen that will leave us talking about the show Monday morning ?

With so many awards shows throughout the year, sometime it's hard to keep them straight. But the Academy of Country Music Awards may just have a few tricks up their sleeves which will make Sunday, April 7, a memorable night. Here are our predictions for the ACM Awards.

Two of the biggest awards may be the most surprising. Entertainer of the Year and New Artist of the Year will be decided by fan voting. This means anything can happen. While ACM members did choose the nominees, the final decision will be completely in the hands of the fans.

There will be plenty of Mr. and Mrs. Blake Shelton.Blake Shelton will be co-hosting the show, along with Luke Bryan. Shelton's wife Miranda Lambert is also up for three awards. The couple tend to steal the spotlight anywhere they go, and there is a good chance the ACM Awards will be no different.

Taylor Swift won’t win anything.Taylor Swift has officially made her transition to the world of pop. While the ACM Awards still consider her a country artist , the voters may disagree. If Swift does win anything, it would likely be Entertainer of the Year. But if other awards shows this season were any indication, Carrie Underwood now seems to win any award that both she and Taylor Swift are nominated for , and Underwood is also nominated for Entertainer of the Year.

The performances will steal the show. A large percentage of the nominees are performing at the 2013 ACM Awards, and the show sure will be diverse. Old school country stars like Tim McGraw and George Strait will be performing, along with more modern country stars. These include Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood and Luke Bryan. To shake things up a little, a few pop stars will be making their appearances, including Taylor Swift and Kelly Clarkson.

The hosting team will bring an entertaining evening that will be full of the best in country music. Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan are at the top of the industry and both have mastered the art of a stage persona. What may be especially entertaining is the two singers are both up for an award in the biggest category of the night, Entertainer of the Year. The competition may create a sort of cat fight between the two, and it could change the personality of the show, which could create either tension or hilarity.

Country's two most dominant male stars of the last 20 years teamed up to honor the ACM Awards' longtime producer, Dick Clark, who died last year.

Hunter Hayes came out of nowhere with a knock-'em-dead performance of his new song "I Want Crazy," proving that he's a name we'll be seeing on the country scene for years to come. But just when we thought he was winding down, he had a trick up his sleeve: Out came R&B icon Stevie Wonder with a surprise pairing for "Sir Duke."

Brad Paisley
and John Mayer

After a full year of medically induced silence, John Mayer gave his first public performance since his August 2012 throat surgery. He performed alongside Brad Paisley — and the audience ate it up! Paisley performed most of the vocals on "Beat This Summer," but when Mayer did chime in, he sounded ah-mazing.
